| Affermativa | Negativa | Interrogativa |
|---|---|---|
| I've been working | I haven't been working | Have I been working? |
| you've been working | you haven't been working | Have you been working? |
| he / she / it's been working | he hasn't been working | Has he been working? |
| we've been working | we haven't been working | Have we been working? |
| they've been working | they haven't been working | Have they been working? |
Been non cambia mai.
I've been learning English for two years (e continuo a impararlo). It's been raining since this morning (e piove ancora).
Per sottolineare la durata
I've been working all day! L'accento è su quanto è durata l'attività, spesso con all day, all morning, for hours.
Azioni appena finite con effetti visibili
Why are you wet? – I've been walking in the rain.Your eyes are red. Have you been crying?
Azioni ripetute in un periodo recente
I've been going to the gym a lot lately. She's been calling me every day.
“Da quanto tempo” in inglese
| Italiano | Sbagliato | Corretto |
|---|---|---|
| Da quanto tempo aspetti? | How long do you wait? | How long have you been waiting? |
| Aspetto da mezz'ora. | I wait since half an hour. | I've been waiting for half an hour. |
| Studio inglese dal 2021. | I study English since 2021. | I've been studying English since 2021. |
| Lavora qui da tre mesi. | She works here from three months. | She's been working here for three months. |
Present perfect continuous o simple?
|---|---|
| I've been painting the kitchen. (ho le mani sporche, forse non ho finito) | I've painted the kitchen. (è finita, guarda!) |

| She's been writing emails all morning. | She's written ten emails. |
| How long have you been learning English? | How many words have you learnt? |
Con verbi come live, work, study, teach spesso si possono usare entrambe le forme con un significato quasi identico: I've lived here for ten years e I've been living here for ten years. Tutto sul present perfect simple è in present perfect.
I verbi che non vogliono il continuous
| Sbagliato | Corretto |
|---|---|

| I've been believing it for a long time. | I've believed it for a long time. |

Con How long + present perfect (continuous): Da quanto tempo aspetti? = How long have you been waiting? Da quanto tempo vivi qui? = How long have you lived / been living here?
